The Monster Garage star's ex, porn star Janine Lindemulder, suggested this week that his current spouse, Sandra Bullock, is trying to "take away my daughter."
She called out the actress to talk with her directly.
James' attorney Marilyn Slifman calls Lindemulder's remarks "wholly inaccurate and unfortunate," noting that "Sandra Bullock is in no way a party to this litigation."
"Mr. James' sole concern is for the safety, welfare and best interests of his daughter," he added. "The proper forum to resolve this case is in the courtroom."

Janine Lindemulder says Sandra Bullock is trying to steal her child. Hasn't she seen one of Sandra's 46 romantic comedies? No way is she capable of such a thing!
She and James wrote to the court questioning her fitness as a parent and voicing concerns about Sunny's safety due to Lindemulder's alleged drug problem.
"I myself have stopped working like I used to in order to be here with Jesse and the kids because we are on constant high alert," Bullock wrote. "Never knowing what condition Janine will be in, and the condition [the girl] will be in."
"I know the term 'stepmother' carries many connotations, one being 'glorified babysitter. My commitment and responsibility to [the girl] ... goes beyond that."
Lindemulder has since been released from prison and is tangling with James over visitation, insisting that she's a changed woman and "the best mother I can be."
"Yes, I have absolutely made horrific choices in the past. I've had my share of drugs," she said on Good Morning America. "But then there's a huge portion of my life, a 10-year span, where there's nothing - I didn't need it."
